FIVE EASY PIECES

Relational Databases

Relational databases were under development on mainframes and minicomputers throughout the 1980’s; however, they were generally not available for use by PC users.

PC users tended to use xBase-like technology such as dBase, Rbase, FoxPro or Paradox.

As LAN-based personal computers started to appear in corporations, existing relational databases were ported to PC operating systems such as OS/2 and Novell Netware.
